More successful student

Since HP was introduced to India, we have had lots of successful students. One of the biggest losers is Ashokan Kuniyeri. He is a 36 yrs old  male school teacher from Kasargod in Kerala. He is suffering from hernia and doctors had advised  him to go for surgery. He was introduced to the program and coached by A.G. Bhat and Aruna.

At the start of the program, he weighs 90.2 kilos, bodyfat-27.9%, body age-52 yrs, visceral fat-13, waist-106cm. After successfully completing the 45 day cycle, he lost 15 kilos in weight , his waist reduced by 15cm, visceral fat, now at 4, body age, down to 39 yrs. and body fat reduced by 10%. His hernia problems has improved tremendously and he says he no longer feels it.

Encouraged by the positive results he has introduced 7 people to HP and currently is co-coaching them.

Egg Yolk, anyone?

The Incredible, Edible Egg Yolk

July, 2005
by Chris Masterjohn
Egg yolks? But they're full of cholesterol!
I'm sure you've heard it before. When you think of a "health freak," you don't think of someone eating egg yolks and discarding the white.
Think again.

Egg Nutrition: Yolk vs. White

Egg yolks are indeed full of cholesterol. Like most cholesterol-rich foods, they are jam-packed full of important nutrients, especially the fat-soluble vitamins and essential fatty acids.
In fact, the slew of nutrients in an egg yolk is so comprehensive that a few a day would offer better insurance than a multi-vitamin. Most importantly, the yolk contains most of the nutrients in an egg.
Egg whites, on the other hand, contain far fewer nutrients. The only thing that could justify their consumption is their attachment to their companion yolk.

Don't believe it? Below is a table that compares the nutritional value of egg whites and yolks, with data provided by the USDA. I've included additional analysis in the last two columns that provides the percentage of the total nutrition found in the yolk and the percentage of total nutrition found in the white.

Why we binge eat

knowing why is more than half the battle
Overeating and emotional eating is just   another sign that you are in fact human.
Knowing why is more than half the battle
You’ll see a lot of articles about how to fight the occasional eat-fest, in fact I dare you to find one woman’s or man’s magazine near the holidays and at the beginning of summer that doesn’t address this issue.
In these magazines, and even on weight loss forums all over the net, you’ll see suggestions with how to beat it: eat this food, don’t eat that food. Go for a walk, take a bath. But let’s be honest, if these things worked, we’d all be prunes from taking all of those bubble baths and ben and jerry’s would be out of business….well, okay, they’d have to at least sell the summer home in Buenos Aires.
So here’s some more practical advice on discovering your reasons for binging and how to heal from them:

Seremban 2 HP student - progress result

Ms Sharon Wong had tried a weight management programme before. It worked at first but her weight rebounded and she felt tired when she was on the previous programme.

She was introduced to HP by her MBA colleague in September 2009. After the Healthpointe programme was explained to her, she liked the that the program could prevent weight rebound as well as having lots of energy. She decided to start the programme on 1st October 2009. At that time her weight was 86.4kg, body fat was 38.3%, Her visceral fat was at level 11, a level which was considered at risk.

After going through two cycles, her weight is now 74.5kg, body fat 33.2%, visceral fat is down to level 6, which is within the safe limit. (the ideal visceral fat is level 1 to 9).

How To Read and Understand Food Labels
Charles Gallagher, C.P., C.P.T.
Institute for Physical & Sports Therapy
Spokane, WA

In the local grocery stores, you can usually find many manufacturers of the same type of food, especially the boxed cereal isle where Kelloggs, Post and other brands are competing everyday with who has the healthiest, lowest in sugar cereal on the market. Unfortunately, many manufacturers have forgotten about the consumer and have led them down the deception isle.
The first thing to be aware of on a food label is the serving size. All the other specification like calories, fat, sodium, etc. are based on the serving size. OF course, you can get only 1-2 grams of fat in some products if the serving size is the size of a quarter. we know good and well that many of us will eat 3-4 times that amount and increase our fat to about 8-10 grams per serving.

Do men lose weight faster than women?

Question: Do men lose weight faster than women?
Answer: Yes, as unfair as it may seem, men do tend to lose weight faster than women. This can be upsetting, particularly when a man runs around the block a few times and seems to instantly lose 10 pounds while a woman's weight loss moves about as fast as a snail.

But, there are physiological reasons for that difference:

  1. Men have more muscle. This allows them to burn more calories, even when at rest.
  2. Women are predisposed to store and retain fat. Women have higher levels of estrogen, a hormone that works works to keep the fat on a woman's body so it's easier for her to get pregnant. That means women have to work harder to lose weight at the same rate as men.
  3. Men's bodies respond more quickly to exercise. Women's bodies, meanwhile, actually go into a sort of starvation mode, slowing the metabolism to hang onto more fat.
  4. Women may have a lower tolerance for exercise. Women have smaller lung capacity than men, which can make women feel as though they are working harder than men even if the women are working at the same level. This can also make exercise feel harder in the heat or high humidity.

This doesn't mean it's impossible for women to lose weight and, when you think about, excellent reasons are behind a woman's tendency to store fat. After all, creating and nurturing a new life is nothing to sneeze at.

It's always best to avoid comparing yourself to others, whether male or female, when it comes to weight loss. Everyone loses weight differently, and genes, along with hormones, play a large role in how quickly some people lose weight.
